TEHRAN – 259 editors-in-chief have signed up to for the elections of the Press Monitoring Council, the council said in an announcement on Tuesday.

Among the applicants there are 23 women, 17 newspaper chiefs, 58 monthly chiefs, 90 news website chiefs and 2 news agency directors.

178 of the press whose heads signed up were launched during the 11th administration. 29 heads of press represent provincial media.

Tehran, East Azerbaijan, and Isfahan provinces have the most applicants.
